TINY DANCER
TINY DANCER
This piece of wood jumped up at me from the beach, the small nuances around its curves are so gestural, so body like. This one is especially fun to get shadows from, definitely an homage to Calder - I am so obsessed with his circus.
My dad moved to the Southern Oregon Coast and I have now become a driftwood nut. The sheer pleasure of finding the perfect shape, a little water borne inspiration, is of utmost pleasure to me these days. And I’ve promised myself to make time for the things that truly bring joy - so here we are. An ever growing collection of driftwood sculptures. My rule is to never alter the wood in any way, only add to it to bring out what I see in it, a true collaboration.
